Privacy statement
How we handle your details
MENSEN.WORK is the controller of the personal data collected through mensen.work and its related websites. Contact us at privacy@mensen.work.
What we collect and why
When you request a download, we record your name, organisation, email address, the publication requested and your contact preferences. When you use our contact form, we record your name, email address, organisation if given, and your message. When you sign up for our newsletter, we record your email address and, where given, your name and organisation. Our form services also record the time of each submission.
We use download details to administer downloads and to see which publications reach which kinds of organisations. We use contact form details to reply to your message and handle your enquiry. We use newsletter details only to send you the newsletter.
If you choose the first optional checkbox on a download request, MENSEN.WORK may contact you about the publication you downloaded. If you choose the second, we may send you news of future publications and activities. Both choices are optional and leaving them unticked does not prevent a download. We do not sell your details.
Our legal basis
We administer downloads on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing who our publications reach. We handle contact form messages on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or to take steps you ask for before entering into an agreement with us. The contact preferences and the newsletter rest on your consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time, and doing so does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
How long we keep it
We keep download records for as long as we need them to administer downloads and report on the reach of our work, and in any case no longer than two years after your request. We keep contact form messages as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, and in any case no longer than two years after our last contact, unless a longer period is required by law. Contact preferences and newsletter subscriptions are kept until you withdraw them. Technical connection data is kept only as long as needed to deliver and protect the website.
Who processes your data
We use trusted service providers to host our websites, receive and store form submissions, and send email. They process your details only on our instructions and only for the purposes described here. Our hosting provider also processes technical connection data to deliver and protect the website.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or, where that does not apply, on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Details stored in your browser
If you choose "Remember my details", your name, organisation, email and preferences are stored in this browser for 180 days and used to fill in later requests. You can review them before each submission. Use "Forget my details" in the footer to remove them from this browser. This does not delete earlier submissions we have already received. Leave this option unticked on a shared device.
Your rights
You can withdraw any contact permission or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. You can ask us for access to your details, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or a copy in a portable form. Write to privacy@mensen.work and we will respond within one month.
Your right to object
You can object to our processing of your details for download administration or for handling contact form messages, on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then stop, unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or with the supervisory authority in your own country.
